Production Details and Type Description

Coppelia
Two seat "mini-jet". The pilot and navigator were to be seated in tandem well forward in the slender metal-constructed fuselage. The wing was of mixed construction, with swept leading edge and straight trailing edge. Fuel tanks occupied all the centre portion of the fuselage and projected into the wing. A swept tailplane and fin were to be fitted. It was originally designed with two Turbomeca Piméné turbojets, but their combined static thrust of 440 lb proved inadequate, and it was redesigned to use a single Armstrong Siddeley Adder of 1,100 lb static thrust in the rear fuselage, fed by a dorsal intake. Provision was made for two JATO units under the jet-pipe at the rear of the fuselage.
