History
The Blackpool and Fylde Aero Club, with headquarters in Cookson Street, Blackpool, was originally formed as a model aero club but changed its name and purpose in mid 1909, under the leadership of Secretary Jack Kemp. It boasted illustrious names on its board, with as president the Hon. C. S. Rolls and vice-president, Mons. M. L. Bleriot.
In August of that year the Club announced hopes to have its full-sized glider ready “very shortly now”. It was reported as still under construction in December of 1909, but nothing further appears to have been heard of it.
