Produced Variants

Type 688 Tudor I
 
Initial production variant for 18 passengers with a fuselage length of 79 ft 6 in, to Specification 29/43 to meet the requirements of OR.152 for a Long Range Civil Transport. Four 1,750 h.p. Rolls-Royce Merlin 102 powerplants.
Type 689 Tudor II
 
 
60-seat passenger aircraft to Specification 12/44 to meet the requirements of OR.152 for a Medium Range Civil Transport, with the fuselage lengthened to 105 ft 7 in and increased by 1 ft to 11 ft diameter. Four 1,750 h.p. Rolls-Royce Merlin 102, 1,740 h.p. Merlin 600A or 1,770 h.p. Merlin 621 powerplants.
Type 688 Tudor III Tudor I modified by Armstrong Whitworth Aircraft as executive transport aircraft to meet the requirements of OR.210.
Type 688 Tudor IV
 
32 passenger aircraft; Tudor I with fuselage lengthened by 5 ft 9 in, to Specification 28/46 to meet the requirements of OR.152 for a Civil Transport for BSAA. Four Rolls-Royce Merlin 621s or 1,760 h.p. Merlin 623 powerplants.
Type 688 Tudor IVB
 
28 passengers aircraft; as Tudor IV but retained the Tudor Is flight engineers station to meet the requirements of Specification 11/48 for a Medium Range Civil Transport for BOAC.
Type 688 Super Trader 4B Tudor IVB with large freight door in the port side.
Type 689 Tudor V Tudor II to Specification 39/46 to meet the requirements of OR.152 for a Civil Transport for BSAA.
Type 689 Tudor VII Tudor II fitted with four 1,750 h.p. Bristol Hercules 120 powerplants.
Type 688 Tudor VIII Tudor IV fitted with four Rolls-Royce Nene turbojet engines.

Type 689 Tudor IIF Cargo and troop transport variant for RCAF to Specification AIR-16-16 using Lincoln XV components.
Type 689 Tudor VI 32/38 passenger variant of Tudor II for the Argentinian airline FAMA.
Type 689 Tudor 9
 
Development of the Tudor II with jet engines and a tricycle undercarriage. Four Rolls-Royce Nene turbojet powerplants. Developed into the Type 706 Ashton.
Type 699
 
Variant of Type 689 with nosewheel undercarriage and broad chord fin for BEA to carry 60 passengers. Four Bristol Hercules 730 pwerplants.
Type 705 36 passenger jet-engined version of the Type 688 and a tricycle undercarriage.
Type 706 Lengthened fuselage variant of Type 705. Type number reused for the Ashton.
Type 709 Long range Empire transport version of the Tudor II.
Type 711 Development of the Tudor IV as a 36 seat airliner or freighter and a tricycle undercarriage. Four Rolls-Royce Griffon powerplants.
Type 711A Trader
 
Freighter development of the Tudor II fitted with a tricycle undercarriage. Four Rolls-Royce Merlin 623 or Bristol Hercules 763 powerplants. Airframes allocated for conversion but none built.
